  • Themeponds est un projet de centre écologique pour la ville de Busan, en Corée. Ilse situe le long de la rivière Nakdong, dans un site sauvage, plat et parseméd'étangs naturels. Le bâtiment est conçu comme une plaque de métal perforéeemboutie dans le sol spongieux de l'estuaire. Il se déploie autour d'une séried'étangs artificiels qui fonctionnent comme des puits de lumière, éclairant lesespaces d'exposition enterrés dans le sol. Chacun des patios est recouvertd'une maille métallique qui filtre la lumière naturelle et prolonge le matériaudu socle, suggérant une continuité entre toutes les surfaces du projet. Lebâtiment circonscrit ainsi un morceau de géographie, alternant des zones sècheset humides. Sa répartition horizontale et expansive permet d'associer lesespaces de mouvement et d'exposition, et d'assurer un rapport permanent entrel'expérience du site et les fonctions pédagogiques du centre.
  • Theme ponds is a project for an ecological centre situated in the city of Busan, along the Nakdong river. The site is flat, wild and covered with natural ponds. The building is conceived as a perforated metal plate embossed in the wet and spongy ground of the estuary. It unfolds around a series of artificial ponds that work as light shafts bringing natural light into the underground exhibition spaces. Each pond hosts an eco-system representing the ecological diversity of the estuary. The programming of the ponds corresponds to a series of themes related to this diversity. The exterior skin of the ponds is made of metal mesh, filtering light while visually expanding the horizontal roof-terrace of the building. The project does not appear as a building but as a hollow geography. It circumscribes a piece of geography, alternating wet and dry zones. Its very expansive and horizontal layout allows associating spaces of circulation with exhibition spaces. The presence of the ponds that can all be accessed from exhibition areas ensures that pedagogical activities are always linked to the experience of the site.
